Project Description:
The research phase precedes the programming and conceptual ideation phases. To develop your design strategy, you must gather research insights. Implementing your learnings from your design research course, you will conduct primary research on a specific topic of importance to the university. Similar to the research projects presented in class, each of your teams will develop a series of 2-3 research methods you will use to gain student-centric insights which will inform your Design Strategies and Insertions.
Building upon this comprehensive knowledge, and addressing your team's specific topic of investigation, you will be developing a holistic campus strategy with specific design interventions. Translating your key insights and takeaways into tangible design ideas, your interventions will be inserted in public space (outside or inside) within Ohio State’s main campus. These interventions can be macro or micro-interventions, and they can be human, digital, or physical interventions, but they must relate to one or more of your insights.

Ohio State's lasting impact
This assignment pushed my group and I to use design research skills to improve sustainability on Ohio State's Campus. We created various public space insertions that would motivate students to increase their sustainability, and presented it to a panel of professionals.

Background research
We collectively gathered research from 16 ohio state students who were willing to participate in an immersion worksheet, survey questions, and a build your own adventure activity. These methods of research allowed us to understand how sustainable ohio state students are and how they perceive sustainability on campus.
